About this item

BioMag® particles with affinity binding proteins may be coated with the primary antibody or biotinylated molecule of interest through a straightforward incubation. They are also suitable for off-the-shelf use in applications, such as immunoprecipitation or PCR product clean-up.

  • Mean diameter: 7 to 9 µm
  • Particle concentration: 2×106 microspheres/ml

Single population Protein G microsphere is suitable for labeling with conjugated antibodies from a range of hosts. Labeled microspheres may be used as single-population reference standards or in conjunction with an unlabeled population for compensation purposes.

Typical affinities of Protein G for immunoglobulins from different host species and for different subclasses follow. Because Protein G specificities and affinities for IgG vary, investigators are encouraged to research or test specific antibodies as needed.

Though Protein G microsphere may be used for mouse, rat, and human antibodies as appropriate, Bangs Laboratories offers dedicated binding standards for antibodies from these host species.

Protein G readily bind the Fc regions of many IgG isotypes. For this reason, they are used extensively for affinity purification of antibodies from serum or cell culture supernatant, and for capture of immunoprecipitated protein complexes. When Protein G microspheres are used as reagents in tests and assays, the immobilized antibodies may be crosslinked to the coated support for long-term stability.
