About this item

Elastase is a serine protease that preferentially cleaves at the C-terminus of alanine, valine, serine, glycine, leucine or isoleucine. Elastase has a unique capability of digesting elastin. Elastase activity is optimal at pH 9.0.

  • Cleaves at C-Terminus of Ala, Val, Ser, Gly, Leu and Ile
  • Unique ability to digest elastin
  • Optimal activity at pH 9.0
  • Use alone or with other proteases for mass spectrometric protein analysis

Elastase is a serine protease that preferentially cleaves at the C-terminus of alanine, valine, serine, glycine, leucine or isoleucine. Elastase has a unique capability of digesting elastin. This enzyme can be used alone or in combination with other proteases for protein analysis by mass spectrometry and other applications. Elastase activity is optimal at pH 9.0.
