TSKgel SW columns, introduced in 1977, were the first of a long line of high performance Gel Filtration columns that have become synonymous with analyzing protein molecular weights in the emerging field of biotechnology.

TSKgel SW columns are based on highly porous silica particles, the surface of which has been shielded from interacting with proteins by derivatization with ligands containing diol functional groups. TSKgel SW columns stand out from other silica- or polymer-based high performance size exclusion columns by virtue of their large pore volumes.

TSKgel G2000SW columns provide excellent separation of peptides and proteins with molecular weights up to 100000 Da, the TSKgel G3000SW columns up to 500000 Da, and the TSKgel G4000SW columns are preferred for proteins and other biomolecules of even higher molar mass. TSKgel G2000SW columns have a pore size of 12.5 nm and a particle size of 10 μm for analytical columns and scale to 13 μm in 21.5 mm Int.Ø columns for preparative purifications. TSKgel G3000SW columns have a pore size of 25 nm and have particle sizes of 10 μm for analytical columns and scale to 13 μm in 21.5 mm Int.Ø columns for preparative purifications. TSKgel G4000SW columns have a pore size of 45 nm and are available in 13 μm particle size in glass and stainless steel analytical columns. Particle sizes of 13 and 17 μm are used to pack 30 and 60 cm × 21.5 mm Int.Ø columns, respectively, for semi-preparative purifications.
