Endothelial Cell Culture Medium MV and MV2 were developed for the in vitro cultivation of endothelial cells from microvascular vessels, the coronary artery and the aorta. Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS, bovine hypothalamic extract) but contains the basic Fibroblast Growth Factor, the Insulin-like Growth Factor (Long R3 IGF-1) and the Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF).

Generally, VEGF leads to higher endothelial cell proliferation in culture. But, because of its multiple effects on the cell metabolism, it may also interfere with certain experimental setups. In these cases, Endothelial Cell Growth Medium MV is recommended.

The media are optimised for primary human cells but can also be used for bovine, porcine, murine, rat and dog endothelial cells from microvascular vessels as well as for various endothelial cell lines.

: PromoCell Endothelial Cell Culture Medium MV and MV2 are available as Medium (ready to use) or as Medium Kit. The Medium (ready to use) consists of 1× 500 ml bottle of basal medium and 1× vial of SupplementMix. The Medium Kit consists of a 500 ml bottle of Basal Medium and the SupplementPack (a set of individual vials with pre-measured supplements) allowing the user full control over the media formulation. Adding the SupplementMix or the SupplementPack to the Basal Medium results in the complete Growth Medium. Basal Medium (with or without phenol red) as well as the SupplementMix and SupplementPack can also be purchased separately.
