Avantor is investing in a clean energy future with solar installations
Climate change is the defining environmental challenge of our time. In response, Avantor has committed to a 50% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
As part of our energy and emissions reduction strategy, we’re excited to announce that we are making progress in transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy. New solar installations are now operational at three of our manufacturing and distribution centers around the world.
- Our Singapore Manufacturing & Distribution Hub, where 1,264 solar panels were installed, is expected to generate an estimated 1,034,456 kilowatt-hours annually. This will cover more than 20% of the facility’s power needs while cutting its carbon footprint by nearly 400 metric tons of CO2e each year. This is the equivalent to planting approximately 5,000 trees.
- Our Panoli, India solar array is expected to generate 760,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually. This will cover 43% of the site's electricity needs and will reduce the site's carbon footprint by nearly 34%, offsetting approximately 500 metric tons of CO2e each year.
- In West Henrietta, the rooftop-mounted solar panel system is expected to produce 800,000 kilowatt-hours of energy annually, meeting about 50% of the distribution center's electrical needs. This will lower the facility’s greenhouse gas emissions by more than 12 percent annually, reducing CO2e by 85 metric tons.
