YPD Broth is used for routine growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for molecular biology studies.

It is a nutritionally rich medium containing dextrose, peptone and yeast extract. Dextrose is the energy source. Yeast extract and peptone provide carbon, nitrogen, minerals, vitamins, trace ingredients and other essential growth nutrients which stimulate the growth of yeasts.
