Carboys are well suited for use in temperatures ranging from –100 to 100 °C (–148 to 212 °F). Carboys are leak proof under standard test conditions. Spigots are tied to the handle, and require assembly by hand for usage. No tools are necessary for assembly.

The high-density polyethylene, disposable carboys are ideal for storage and transfer of sterile fluids and pharmaceutical/biotech reagents. Carboys offer excellent chemical resistance and are well suited for use from –100 to 100 °C (–148 to 212 °F). Graduated to identify the volume despensed.

Polypropylene carboys can be autoclaved before refilling to stop recurring bacterial growth. HDPE carboys are not autoclavable.
