The Reversible Fuel Cell combines the functions of an electrolyzer and a fuel cell into ONE device. When applying an electrical current the device acts as an electrolyzer that produces hydrogen and oxygen from de-ionized water. When applying a load, the device behaves as a fuel cell and generates electricity from hydrogen.
A multifunctional and versatile asset to any classroom, this reversibly PEM fuel cell enables students to obtain both the functions of an electrolyzer and fuel cell in one device. The device acts as a fuel cell and generates electricity from hydrogen when a load is applied. When an electrical current is applied, the device produces hydrogen and oxygen from de-ionized water and acts as an electrolyzer. Power from miniature wind turbines, solar cells, batteries or mechanical hand cranks also activate the electrolyzer function. This kit comes as a set of five units.
