ORTHObones are a great tool for your students to use for experiments. The two layer construction gives each bone characteristics more like real bone while retaining a high level of structural detail. ORTHObones allow you to supply your students with a tool to practice medical engineering procedures, or a low cost model they can examine in greater detail.

Premium ORTHObones were developed for use by surgeons, orthopedists and medical engineers. These groups needed a bone with structural characteristics beyond what regular models could supply, but not at the cost of high anatomical details. ORTHObones meet all these needs. For a classroom, the cortical shell may be harder for students to perform procedures on. In this situation the Standard ORTHObones are a perfect fit. The standard grade was developed to give students in workshops or classrooms a product with the same two component structure, realistic haptics, anatomical accuracy, and a surface that is less rigid than the premium bones. This allows students to practice engineering implants, without the added difficulty of accurately breaking or cutting the heavier cortical bone.
