Sklar's kogan endocervical speculum is a gynecological instrument used for viewing the distal endocervical canal.
- Ratchet locking mechanism
- With narrow blades of 2 to 4 mm wide
- Serrations outside of the blade
Unlike a traditional duckbill speculum, this single-spring, locking, finger-ring intrument features opposing, fenestrated blades at the end of long jaws. The jaws and blades extend deeper into the cervix and can therefore retract deeper tissue.
An endocervical speculum is frequently used in colposcopy procedures, or where polyps cannot be easily visualized.
