The analytical laboratory may incorporate sustainable practices through its column selection decisions and/or through alternative products with respect to chemicals/solvents. From the analyst’s perspective, sustainable laboratory practices are tightly coupled to the consumption of energy, solvents, reagents, and their waste production. From the column manufacturer’s point of view, producing columns in smaller formats reduces the amount of stationary phase and stainless steel that is used. In this talk, we will showcase how column selection decisions as well as alternative options with respect to solvents, align with sustainable practices for both the analyst and manufacturer, without compromising separation performance and throughput.
