ICAM-2 is a 55-65 kD transmembrane glycoprotein possessing 2 extracellular Ig domains, a single transmembrane domain, and a short 26-amino acid cytoplasmic domain. ICAM-2 is expressed on most leukocytes, and is strongly expressed on vascular endothelial cells. Interactions of ICAM-2 and the integrin receptors mediate cell adhesion in a wide range of lymphocyte, monocyte, natural killer cell, and granulocytewith other cells, and play important roles in many adhesion-dependent immune and inflammation responses, such as T cell aggregation, NK-cell cytotoxicity and migration, lymphocyte recirculation, etc. Serum levels of ICAM-2 correlated significantly with the inflammatory and course sequences of trichinosis in mice and had a similar relation with blood eosinophilia. So, estimation of ICAM-2 serum levels may prove useful in diagnosis of trichinosis recent infections, and in monitoring the prognosis and response to treatment.

MMP28 was later cloned from human lung and found in lung, kidney, brain, skeletal muscle, and several tumor cell lines. At least three MMP28 transcripts of 2.6, 2.0, and 1.2 kb have been reported possibly representing alternatively spliced forms of MMP28. There are two human sequences (isoform1 and isoform 2) which encode proteins of 520 and 393 amino acids with predicted masses of 58.9 and 44.5 kDa respectively. The mouse sequence contains two inserts of 41 and 39 amino acids respectively, relative to the human sequence. Mouse epilysin has a predicted molecular mass of approx. 70 kDa. Mouse and human epilysin are highly conserved and share 97% identical residues. Epilysin (MMP-28) contains the key domains of the other MMPs: a signal peptide, conserved cysteine-containing prodomain (with a furin cleavage site), conserved histidine-containing catalytic domain, hinge domain, and hemopexin domain. MMP28 has a furin cleavage site, similar to MMP11, and is cleaved by the prohormone convertase family of enzymes. Sequence identity between MMP28 and the other MMPs is low overall. MMP28 is most closely related to MMP19 (39% sequence identity). Recombinant MMP28 degrades casein.

TYW2 is involved in a multistep enzymatic reaction that stabilizes codon-anticodon base-pairing during the ribosomal decoding process, thereby ensuring correct translation. TYW2 was found to be amplified in 7 of 8 breast cancers cell lines analyzed, and qPCR analysis of 30 breast tumors showed overexpression of TYW2 mRNA of over 2-fold in 26, suggesting that TYW2 may play a role in breast cancer.
