About this item

The ready-to-use Coagulase Cryo is used to differentiate Staphylococcus species based on the ability to produce coagulase

No addition of water, no mixing, no measuring required! It contains rabbit plasma, and is used to test for the production of free coagulase. The tube coagulase test is used to identify pathogenic staphylococci. The Staphylococcus species that are capable of producing coagulase include S. aureus (potentially pathogenic in humans and animals) and the animal isolates S. intermedius and S. hyicus. In the past, coagulase testing involved the reconstitution of dehydrated coagulase plasma with sterile water. After reconstitution, aliquots of 0.5 mls were aseptically transferred to sterile tubes for testing. With the Coagulase Cryo, the work is already done for you! Simply thaw the plastic vial to room temperature, inoculate, and observe for coagulation. Storage is in a standard freezer.
