RSA™ autosampler vials prevent sample diluents (such as water) from de-protonating the many hydroxyl groups on the vial surface producing a negative charge on the glass. This 'acidic' functionality of these silanols has been known to cause adsorption of basic compounds, and/or hydrolyze some susceptible compounds making them undetectable. The very low surface metals in these vials prevent contamination, precipitation, chelation or cause other changes in your samples as with standard borosilicate glass. These vials are chosen for very low abundance analytes such as low dosage form pharmaceuticals, forensic samples, bio-markers, environmental samples and other critical low concentration samples.
