Fractional weights 500mg to 5mg are made of stainless steel (30mg weights are made of aluminum); fractional weights 3mg and below are made of aluminum. Weights 500g and smaller are supplied in rugged polycarbonate cases. Sets that include weights 1kg and larger are supplied in oak, aluminum, or rugged plastic cases. All cases are fitted with individual compartments and marked with the accuracy class and serial number. A clear fitted cover secures the fractional weights within the case. Each case includes contoured weight forceps. Analytical weights 1g and above are manufactured with adjusting cavities.
UltraClass weights 1g to 20kg are made from Troemner Alloy 8, which is a specially austenitic stainless steel that possesses closely controlled density, extremely low magnetic permeability, good stability and resistance corrosion and handling damage. This exclusive material has a density of 8.0 at 25ºC (controlled to ±0.1%), is essentially nonmagnetic in the annealed condition, and will not transform to magnetic under any combination of temperature and cold work down to –195.5ºC (–320ºF). Class 1 and 4 weights 1g to 1kg are made from Troemner Blended Stainless Steel. Weights 2kg to 50kg are made from Type 316 stainless steel
