For determination of fat and oil content in samples not exceeding 5g

Reduces extraction time from 16 hours to approximately 4 hours. Frame is constructed of anodized aluminum. Extraction process involves locking any of 6 Alundum extraction thimbles to condenser and applying heat. Solvent condenses and washes down through sample into boiling solvent below. After extraction, solvent reclaiming tube replaces sample container. Solvent chamber is a beaker which is weighed before extraction begins. This beaker is also weighed after extraction and final solvent evaporation. The increase in beaker weight indicates the weight of fat or oil extracted.

A ³/₈" IPS (International Pipe Standard) control valve on the upper left side is for connection to a water source. A ³/₄" IPS water outlet on the upper right side is for connection to an open drain of at least ³/₄" IPS. An on/off switch is lighted red when in the on position.
