A potent vasodilator found in normal tissues and blood
Activates nitric oxide synthase. Formed by the decarboxylation of L-histidine. Activation of histamine H1 receptors leads to Ca²⁺ mobilization, whereas histamine H2 receptor activation stimulates adenylate cyclase activity in neurons.
