Fetal bovine serum (charcoal stripped) has reduced levels of hormones and is utilized in receptor or estrogen studies. This treatment minimized variability in sera and normally improves immunoassay systems.
The serum has to be stored at –80 °C or below. Freeze-thaw cycles are to be avoided and standard sterile procedures are to be handled to maintain it's sterility.
