About this item

Gifu Anaerobic Medium (GAM Broth) is recommended as a general culture medium for cultivation and isolation of anaerobic bacteria and to test their susceptibility to antibiotics other than sulpha drugs.

  • Light yellow to brownish yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
  • Forms amber coloured clear solution in tube
  • Reaction of 5.9% w/v aqueous solution at 25 °C, pH: 7.3±0.1

Composition of the medium is as follows: Peptic digest of animal tissue, papaic digest of soyabean meal, protease peptone, digested serum, yeast extract, beef extract, liver extract, dextrose, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, starch, L-cysteine hydrochloride, sodium thioglycollate.

GAM broth is to be storted below 30 °C and the prepared medium at 2 - 8 °C.
