About this item

NCAPD2 is an essential component of the highly conserved condensin complex required for mitotic chromosome condensation and for the correct attachment between chromosome kinetochores and microtubules of the mitotic spindle . NCAPD2,also known as CEP250 or C-Nap1, is a centrosomal protein and the presumed substrate of Nek2 and PP1. The function of C-Nap1 in centriolar cohesion may be regulated by its own phosphorylation status, which depends on the balance between Nek2 and PP1 activities. Studies by immunoelectron microscopy found that C-Nap1 located only at the proximal ends of, but not between, the two centrioles .
