About this item
Annexin A1 (AnxA1) N-terminal-derived peptide, also known as Ac2-26, mimics the antiinflammatory effects of AnxA1. Ac2-26 can activate all three formyl peptide receptor family members FPR, FPR-like (FPRL)1 and FPRL2 at similar concentations. It represents the first endogenous ligand for FPRL2. In myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury experiments the peptide showed cardioprotective effects. Understanding the underlying mechanism may help developing novel therapeutics for acute cardioprotection.
