5-Carboxytetramethylrhodamine (5-TAMRA), Sigma-Aldrich®

Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY

An important fluorophore prepared in high purtity with a detection limit of TMR-labeled amino acids by capillary electrophoresis of approx. 600 molecules. Readily excited by the 546 nm spectral line from mercury-arc lamps used in fluorescent microscopes, and is intrinsically more photostable than fluorescein.

Supplier: AAT BIOQUEST

5-TAMRA is the purified single isomer of 5(6)-TAMRA. It is widely used to label peptides and proteins. It is preferred for some complicated biological applications where reproducibility is more critical than material cost since the minor positional difference between 5-TAMRA and 6-TAMRA might affect some biological properties of the underlying conjugates. Currently AAT Bioquest is using a proprietary process to synthesize isomer-free 5-TAMRA without the conventional chromatographic purification.
