Associate Volunteerism

Empowering associates to help in their communities

Associate volunteerism | Avantor

Volunteering our time further expands the goodness we create. Throughout our Company’s history, our associates have volunteered locally. A formal volunteer policy was established in 2021 that provides a global process to empower associates to participate in service activities aligned to our giving strategy.

Giving Goodness Portal

The Avantor Foundation’s new Giving Goodness portal makes it easier for associates to have a positive impact in communities around the globe. The portal provides access to the Foundation’s new Matching Gifts program, where associates can amplify their financial donations or volunteer time with financial match to amplify their community efforts. Associates can also submit volunteer opportunities through the portal to share with peers as well as search and sign up for other posted volunteer events.

Company-sponsored Volunteer Events

As part of our giving philosophy, we provide volunteerism opportunities for Avantor associates to strengthen our support. Examples of associate volunteering in 2022 include:

  • Project HOME’s mission is to support the health and wellness needs of people who are experiencing homelessness or living in underserved communities in Philadelphia. Avantor associates created hygiene kits that were distributed to aid those in need
  • The American Indian Foundation (AIF) in Tribal areas of the Thane District, Maharashtra, India is committed to improving the lives of India’s women, children, and youth by catalyzing social and economic change. As part of a Foundation grant enabling AIF to establish quality STEM labs to support the development of students’ scientific skills, Avantor associates volunteered to mentor and inspire students to pursue STEM careers
  • With the Avantor Foundation grant, Engineering Development Trust (EDT) developed STEM experiences for students ages 14-17 to enhance their understanding of career opportunities and the industries Avantor serves. As a part of the grant, EDT created a week-long STEM work experience where 27 Avantor team members from around the world volunteered to present and participate in virtual panel discussions with students
  • In honor of Giving Tuesday, associates at our Bridgeport, New Jersey location created 215 disaster relief kits for Florida hurricane and Kentucky tornado victims. At our Haasrode, Belgium distribution center, associates created 400 disaster relief packages for refugees from Ukraine. Both events created an opportunity for onsite associates to participate in a team-based community engagement activity with no disruption to daily shipping operations
